    mBank’s sustainable activities rated favourably by Sustainalytics

    Sustainalytics, a leading global ESG research and ratings provider, has assigned an ESG Risk Rating to mBank Group. In line with Sustainalytics’ methodology for rating the sustainable performance of Diversified Banks, mBank ranked second out of 375 companies in the subindustry as on 14th Jan 2020.

    Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings measure a company’s exposure to industry-specific material ESG risks, and how well a company is managing those risks. The firm’s multi-dimensional way of measuring ESG risk combines the concepts of management and exposure to arrive at an assessment of unmanaged ESG risk that is comparable both across and within industries. Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings distinguish between five levels of risk: negligible, low, medium, high and severe. A company’s final ESG Risk Rating can be scored on up to 20 material ESG issues such as human capital, business ethics, and data privacy and security.
    According to Sustainalytics, mBank has low ESG risk (with a score of 13.4; the lower the score, the better the company’s ESG performance). In its summary report Sustainalytics writes: the company is at low risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors (...) and has not experienced significant controversies. As per mBank, its environmental, social and corporate governance initiatives help the bank achieve its ambitious business goals.
