The first half of 2025 was a period of dynamic growth and outstanding financial performance for the mBank Group. Net profit attributable to mBank shareholders amounted to PLN 1,665 million, representing a 143% year-on-year increase.
Key achievements of the mBank Group in H1 2025:
- Strong volume growth in both retail and corporate client segments contributed to improved market shares.
- The net loan portfolio and deposit base each grew by 10% year-on-year. Total revenue increased by 7.1% year-on-year, driven by higher net interest income, fee and commission income, and trading income.
- Operational efficiency remained at a very high level, despite a 15.4% year-on-year increase in operating expenses.
- Cost of risk reflected the very high quality of credit exposures and stood at 46 basis points, marking a slight increase compared to the low base in H1 2024.
- Significant reduction in legal risk costs related to foreign currency loans, down to PLN 1,205.5 million, due to a decline in exposure and the number of lawsuits. The bank maintained a stable downward trend in the inflow of new court cases and continued to successfully conclude settlements with clients.
- High profitability, confirmed by a return on equity (ROE) of 17.8% and a return on tangible equity (ROTE) of 22.0%.
Dynamic growth in customer numbers:
- Retail clients: 5,811.7 thousand (+132.6 thousand since the end of June 2024)
- Corporate clients: 36,961 (+1,232 since the end of June 2024)
Capital and financial stability:
- The total capital ratio stood at 15.0%, and the Tier I ratio at 14.0%.
- The surplus over the KNF’s minimum capital requirements remained at a safe level – 4.9 p.p. for Tier I and 3.9 p.p. for the total capital ratio.
- The Tier II capital issuance and retained earnings further strengthened the bank’s capital position.
