On this April 11, Wiesbaden, the capital of Germany’s federal state (land) of Hessen, saw a prestigious ceremony being held in honour of Krzysztof Szwarc, Chairman of BRE Bank’s Supervisory Board and former long-time Management Board President, who was awarded the Cross of Merit on the Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verdienstkreuz am Bande des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) by Roland Koch, Prime Minister of Hessen.
The Wiesbaden ceremony is an expression of acknowledgement for Krzysztof Szwarc’s long-standing efforts made for shaping partnership-based and mutually fruitful business relations between businesses and financial institutions of Poland and Germany.Other than recognising success in Krzysztof Szwarc’s own professional career, this is also a high profile event for Poland’s banking sector at large, in which the Chairman of BRE Bank’s Supervisory Board has been working for many years. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that a Pole representing a financial institution operating in Poland has been honoured with one of the most prestigious state distinctions of the home country of the Polish company’s Western partner.“I feel honoured by such a prestigious distinction. I am all the happier for that as my first foreign merit comes from Germany, and I take it to be an expression of acknowledgement for the type of fruitful co-operation that has been going on between BRE Bank and Commerzbank for years”, said Krzysztof Szwarc shortly after accepting the distinction from Roland Koch, Hessen’s prime minister. “I would also like to thank Klaus-Peter Müller, Commerzbank’s CEO for today’s distinction, as his support has been instrumental in my having this prestigious award”, Krzysztof Szwarc added. The Wiesbaden ceremony also takes on a special dimension for BRE Bank given the prospect of Poland’s EU accession. After appointment of Wojciech Kostrzewa (BRE Bank’s CEO) as Commerzbank’s Regional Management Board Member, this is a second telling example of reputation that Polish managers working for BRE Bank enjoy in Germany, one of EU’s largest member states. This gives ground to an optimistic outlook for the future development of BRE Bank as one of Poland’s leading financial institutions, especially in the context of impending competition against Western banks in Europe’s single market, a process in which BRE Bank will draw on the expertise and over 130 years of experience of Commerzbank, its strategic partner.Kontakt dla mediów
